Amazing Cultural Festival held
What a remarkable day it was, celebrating not only our MÄori culture but also the diverse cultures that make Maniapoto our home!
A heartfelt thanks to the kura whose performances brought tears of pride and joy to young and old alike. We were thrilled to welcome back Te Kawei o TÅ«roa (Taumarunui High School) and extend a warm welcome to Te Kura o NgÄpuke, making their debut at this year’s festival.
It was heartening to witness whÄnau standing by their rÅpÅ«, exemplifying the spirit of Kotahitanga (unity) and WhÄnaungatanga (kinship) at its best. We would also like to extend our gratitude and aroha to our generous sponsors: Te Nehenehenui, The Lines Company, Creative Communities, Piopio Station Trust, Corey Barnsdall Builders, MÅkau Kohunui Marae, The Fat Pigeon, The Fat Owl, Wai Ora River Care, Number Twelve, Lions Caravan, The Mustard Seed, Waitomo Marquee Hire, and Te KÅ«iti New World.
A special mention to Suzie McKee, one of our kura’s teachers, and the talented students who created the vibrant backdrop for our performances. Its bold colours not only welcomed our manuwhiri (guests) but stood proudly, embodying the mana of ourkura. NgÄ mihi maioha to Suzie.
We also want to acknowledge the hardworking team behind the scenes who ensured everything ran smoothly, from the staff, groundskeeper, Hospitality class, student helpers, and parent volunteers.
Lastly, to our kapa haka rÅpÅ«, Matua Amai, Whaea Amana, Whaea Jo, and Paiaka, your dedication, passion and guidance has made us all incredibly proud. PÄ“nÄ te kererÅ« tÄtou i poho ai – like the kererÅ«, we are bursting with pride!
NgÄ mihi nui ki a koutou katoa!
