Piopio College Update 18 Oct

Kia Ora Tatau (Hello everyone)
Nau mai Haere Mai Tuaira!

Welcome to the busiest term in the school year! I hope and trust that all our families used the term break to catch up, have a break and spend some quality time with the students and family.

This term will go very fast, especially for seniors who will begin their exam leave on Thursday 7 November this year.
Senior academic Prize Giving will be on Wednesday 6 November in the Piopio Community Hall at 12:30pm and we will provide more information sooner to the event. Please ensure any outstanding trophies are returned to reception as soon as possible so we can get the names engraved in preparation for the event.
Senior students will also need to complete all outstanding assessments in the next three weeks and they should be revising for the NZQA final exams. Exam timetables are available on the NZQA website https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/assets/qualifications-and-standards/qualifications/ncea/exams-and-portfolios/exam-timetable-2019.pdf

Outdoor Recreation camp
Our senior Outdoor Recreation group and Mr Draper have gone on a two-day camp just north of Awakino and they will be completing some work in the context of the local environment for credits. Hopefully, they will also get some downtime to do fishing and gathering of kai Moana!

Expression of condolences
I also want to take this opportunity to reach out to the Smythe family who have suffered the terrible loss of a loved one. Our hearts and prayers go out to Sean`s extended whanau and we keep you in our thoughts and hearts during your time of bereavement. As a small community, we all are affected when tragedy happens to our families and offer our support in any way you may need.

Kia Kaha whanau!
