Piopio Community Fruit & Veg Stand - Update

First of all, a big thanks to everyone for the ongoing contributions to the Community Stand over winter.

I’m confident that no one in Piopio will get scurvy-- there’s been too much citrus on offer! Luscious lemons, lovely limes, groovy grapefruit, tempting tangelos, and mouth-watering mandarins. As well as homemade jams and marmalade, lemon honey, and biscuits. The deliveries of “best before” breads from our friends at New World appear every week or so. Those move out almost as quickly as the avos.

For the first week of “Bee Aware Month” in September we’ve had pots of paddock honey, with thanks to Alan Busch, and packets of “Seeds for Bees.”

I’ve had one elderly lady take up my offer to help pick her surplus fruit for the stand so far. Thanks to “Mrs. H.” for heaps of mandarins and tangelos. Please let me know about anyone else in the same position and we’ll figure out what to do, we can’t have good fruit going to waste.
I trust everyone is starting to plan his or her spring/summer veggie gardens. We’ve got radishes, broad beans, coriander and peas away, with tomato seed-lings germinated in the glasshouse and potatoes chitting in the garage.

Any questions/issues on the Community Stand don’t hesitate to contact me.
