PROJECT PIOPIO TRUST - Report August 2016

Our Board Members:
President: Barrie Tatham
Secretary: Lynn Merchant
Treasurer: Kirsty Reeves
Melanie Simpson, Nicky Atkinson

The key goal of Project Piopio Trust is to ‘help develop Piopio into a thriving and inviting place to visit and
live'. Each year there is a focus on two or three key projects.

Current Projects:
• The interior and seating area of the Tui Park shelter for campers, a great asset to the park.
• Upgrade the ablutions block in Tui Park.
• New information boards and landscaping around the new toilet block in Kara Park.

We are also very excited to announce that our motivational speaker for this year is Al Brown from Auckland and he is booked to speak in the Piopio Memorial Hall on Friday 14th October. Al grew up in rural New Zealand and loves to promote New Zealand its food to the rest of the world. He has opened two successful restaurants by the Sky Tower in Auckland ( Depot Eatery & Oyster Bar and the Federal Delicatessen) along with Best Ugly Bagels, his Montreal-style bagel factories. He has also written several books.

His passion for the outdoors and regional produce led to his first TV presenting gig, Hunger for the Wild.
Since then he’s presented Get Fresh with Al Brown (and written a book of the same name), Dishing Up
Australia, and Coasters.

Al’s story is all about people, places, food and rural NZ.

Tickets for this event will go on sale at the Crafty Pigeon, Fat Pigeon and at Atkinsons Vets from 1st September. Bar and Supper: A Taste from the Wild!

Be inspired after the wet, cold winter. Book a table early and don’t miss this event!
