Sheep Shearing Record Attempt

Preparations are well underway for the shearing world record attempt at Puketiti Station in the Mangaotaki Valley.Kaleb and Daniel with a few helpers have re-configured the catching pens and chutes in the woolshed.

On the 23rd of December Kaleb Foote, Daniel Langlands and Coel L’Huillier will be attempting to break the three stand, eight hour lamb shearing record of 1825. The guys will need to shear a lamb to a high standard every 47 seconds to break current record by a couple of sheep.

The days leading up to the 23rd are long, busy days. There is a large support crew helping these guys succeed. They will be weaning, drafting and preparing the lambs, according to the strict rules of the world record standards.

We would like to thank in advance the sponsors that have already stepped forward with their support; Ingleby, Barrowcliffe Shearing, Pala Mountain, Heiniger, PGG Wrightson’s, Silver Fern Farms, Affco, D R Drainage, Precision Helicopters Piopio, The Night Owl, Atkinsons Vets and H&T Agronomics.

The record attempt is free to the public and Aria Show Committee are fundraising by providing food and non-alcoholic drinks available for cash purchase on the day.
