Waitanguru Branch Rural Women NZ - Update
Our local branch of RWNZ is contemplating the future as many members are now living out of the district. In the present form the group meets informally most months and takes part in a variety of activities, e.g. a trip to the movies in May, maybe a board games night or just a ‘catch-up’. In April, in conjunction with the Piopio Cos club we held an evening with guest speakers, Trudy Denize (her journey in luxury tourist accommodation), and Melissa Clay, (her job as a senior probation officer with Dept. of Corrections). Both were great speakers and there was a positive vibe in the room. We have also been helping in the Lions Caravan at the fielddays over the years to give us a little income.
In various centres around the Waikato Dinner groups set up by RWNZ have become popular and are attracting professional women. They involve good food, a speaker and a lot of networking. At $50 per head the feeling of our local group is that it is not quite ‘Piopio’.
In moving forward, our local branch needs more members. So to that end, please get in touch with us if you, a group of friends, or it you know of someone who is looking for a new social group to be a part of. Activities can be extremely flexible and planned around the wishes of the members.
‘Growing Dynamic Communities’ is the Strap - line for the logo. Apart from the fun side, the large structural network of the RWNZ organization, which can be nimble in times of crisis, is probably one of the main reasons for wanting to keep our local branch going.
