Piopio Playcentre News

PIOPIO PLAYCENTRE kids have been having some great fun over the last few months. We have had a range of activities both in centre and out and about in the community.

Our tamariki have been excited to be invited to Piopio Primary School to get involved in their Kiwi Kids Charity day where the preschoolers got to see the old fire engines and other vehicles and get involved with the school kids in the singing, dancing and other activities.

We have also been able to go along to the school cross country to cheer on siblings; and our 4-year-olds were invited to spend a couple of hours in the new entrants class at Piopio Primary to start becoming familiar with the environment. We have also again been invited by Steph and her great team at Curious Keas to participate in their cross country event before this goes to print.

These exciting excursions are all in addition to the general week to week play opportunities that we have at centre. Some of these fun activities lately have included paint in many different forms, baking pikelets and soup variations to how we make playdough and art and collage.

Some of our younger tamariki have also been working on mastering aspects of the playground, while others have been enjoying many pretend ‘tea parties’ and ‘teaching the toys’ as our tamariki get their imagination firing whilst working together and developing relationships in their role play.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the lovely team of volunteers at the Mustard Seed in Piopio who have recently donated funds to Piopio playcentre. What a fantastic community that we live in – we greatly appreciate the support that we have within our community.

If you are interested in coming along to have a look at our centre and see what Playcentre is about feel free to drop by in one of our sessions either Monday or Wednesday mornings 9:30am-12noon during school term, or contact Nicola on 027 696 0598.
