Welcome to Piopio, A Thriving Village Nestled Between The
World Famous Waitomo Caves and The Rugged Taranaki Coast

Piopio Retirement (Paearuhe) Village

Although Paearuhe Village is enjoying almost full occupancy, there is not a large waiting list of people wishing to live there in the future.

If we do have a vacancy we always go to the waiting list first then try to fill the vacancy by ‘word of mouth’ rather than advertise.

The Village lies on land donated by Mr Roy and Mrs Jessie Boddy in 1979 and the landscaping and initial planning was done through a major fundraising project in the district ($129,000).

The purpose of the Village is to provide comfortable and affordable housing for people over 60, or with a disability, who have either lived in the Piopio district or have friends or family here. There is no obligation to take an available unit if you are on the waiting list.

We therefore urge anyone who may consider living in the village in the future to let us know.
Let us know also if you could be interested in purchasing a home if one comes available.

Paearuhe Village has two 2-bedroom units, five 1-bedroom units, and three privately owned homes.
