Little Critters fun at Piopio Primary School

by Sue Coyle, Principal
Piopio Primary School

ON SUNDAY, September 25 with the sun shining, a large number of children along with their parents attended the Piopio Primary PTA’s Little Critters Day.

This fundraiser had been postponed from the previous year due to Covid. It was certainly worth the wait. The tamariki brought a number of dead critters: possums, turkeys, hares/rabbits and goats heads. It was obvious there had been a lot of hunting going on and many Dads and Mums had been very busy!

At the event there were games for the kids, including throwing the rings on the antlers and running the obstacle course with a pig or hare. There was a strong competition amongst the competitors who recorded some quick times around the course. There were spot prizes for the participants. There also wasn’t a shortage of food ... yummy nachos and hot chips along with coffee and the very popular cold drinks were all enjoyed while everyone caught up with friends and neighbours.

It was lovely to see so many people supporting this event. The PTA, led by Amanda Jones, should be congratulated for putting together such an awesome event. I know they would like to thank all the wonderful sponsors who helped support the event.

The auction helped raise money for the school and the tamariki all enjoyed the prizes they received for their little critters.
