Project Piopio Trust Update - February 2025
Roll on 2025. We wish all readers a happy and prosperous year.
Firstly a huge thank you to all those who participated in the Community Survey. There were 207 replies, that’s excellent feedback and more than anticipated. We don’t have the full analysis yet. When this happens we will be aiming to consult with all interested parties in the coming months.
One issue we saw come up was the lack of Transport to Te Kuiti medical facilities: Te Kuiti Community House is prepared to make the 4H Mobility Van available for half a day per week, probably Monday. It can take up to five people including one wheelchair. There will be a small cost. If at all interested please phone or text Jenny Brodie (021141243 or leave a message) or email [email protected]. It should be doable, just needs some planning.
Another point raised is the lack of retail outlets in Piopio: That’s not easy to solve because of our low population but you may not be aware that Country Couriers operate a regular service to Te Kuiti and can deliver to Piopio Village, and anyone on the Piopio based rural delivery services. Telephone 0274 760478
Cost of local groceries: Please be aware that running small food outlets is challenging and the cost of goods needs to be higher. These businesses mostly have to source goods at supermarket process. They provide a wonderful service. Please support them.
Piopio Community Information facebook page. The number of people following the page is steadily increasing, hence more people are receiving messages. There are still a lot of activities happening in the community not being posted. We are working on it!
Until next issue
