Change of Officers for Piopio Lions

DUE TO the club losing its site at the Fieldays, club members and some local groups were able to provide helpers for the Ngaruawahia Lions and the club received some income from that arrangement. A big thank you to all who helped out.

The caravan was taken to Aria for the schools Orienteering day and, despite the weather not playing its part, we managed to have a good day.

Our Change of Officers was held at Cambridge and was attended by a good number of members and their partners. Some of us went to visit the Cambridge Car Museum just out of Cambridge and others went shopping. Lunch was held at Stables restaurant, with the swearing in of officers done by Vice District Governor. Stuart Darke was inducted as President of our Club.

Congratulations to those members who received long service awards: 10 years – David Cooper, Ross Smith and Jeff Andrews; 25 years – Stuart Clarke; 30 years – Neil Fairhurst; 40 years – Gavin Todd; and 45 years – Ken Perry. Ross Smith is now our Zone Chairman; and was awarded the “Quiet Achievers Award”. This was in recognition of him being President last year but also taking charge of the caravan.

The club is looking for someone who would like to cook their meeting dinner, once a month, approximately 20 people – meat and three veg – nothing too elaborate. If interested please contact Gavin Todd 021 0870 0545 or Ross Smith 027 285 1703.

Paddys Market is going to be held at the beginning of October, so keep that in mind if you have anything you can donate to our Auction.

We are always looking for new members to join our Club. If you think this is you, or would like some further information,
please contact us.
