Piopio College - Adding a splash of colour and fun
PIOPIO COLLEGE students had a blast during the vibrant Colour Run held on Wednesday, September 18, as part of the school’s “Active As†initiative to engage more rangatahi in physical activities.
The event, organized entirely by the dedicated members of the Active As Student Group, was an explosion of colours, energy, and pure joy as students of all ages took to the makeshift slip-and-slide, getting covered in bright powders and having fun in a friendly and supportive environment. Laughter echoed across the school grounds as participants raced down the slippery tarpaulin, covered head to toe in rainbow hues. This engaging activity not only encouraged students to get moving but also promoted a sense of community and connection among peers. The students’ smiles and enthusiastic participation highlighted how enjoyable and beneficial physical activity can be when paired with creativity and a bit of friendly competition.
Special credit goes to the Active As Student Group, who took the lead in planning, organizing, and running the entire event. Their initiative and leadership shone through, showing how student-led projects can bring fresh ideas and excitement to school life. Their hard work and enthusiasm were evident in every colorful moment of the day.
“This was an event organized by the students, for the students,†said a school representative. “The Active As group did a fantastic job, proving that when young people take charge, amazing things happen. We’re so proud of their effort and the positive impact they’ve made.â€
This Colour Run is just the beginning of Piopio College’s efforts to boost student engagement in physical fitness. With the roaring success of this first event, the school is already planning more action-packed activities in the coming months, thanks to the leadership of the Active As Student Group. Their commitment to making physical activity fun and accessible will ensure this is the first of many lively and engaging events to come.
The vibrant energy and smiles on the students’ faces are a testament to the power of fun, active, and inclusive school initiatives driven by students themselves.
