Welcome to Piopio, A Thriving Village Nestled Between The
World Famous Waitomo Caves and The Rugged Taranaki Coast

Project Piopio Update

THE FAIRLY NEW team has been busy getting our business structure set up and applying for funds through the local Charitable Trust and the Waitomo District Council Triennial Community Partnership Fund. It will also be important to look for further fundraising opportunities and we welcome ideas.

Preparing the community survey referred to in a previous newsletter is still a ‘work in progress’. It is important we get this right as the feedback we get from you, and the organisations you may be involved in, will determine the direction our future projects will take. The previous survey was in 2006.

Also on the cards is having a community meeting where you will be able to share your ideas on what may make Piopio a better place to live going forward.

The Christmas Parade committee is already in preparation mode. This year float participants will notice additions to the entry form around Health & Safety. Please bear with us. While to most of us this seems to be ‘over the top’, we must protect our volunteers who put in so much effort organising these events, and of course keep everyone safe.

On a special note to end, the daffodils around the village have looked fabulous this spring. The bulbs were planted a few years ago and purchased with money donated by the late Brian Anselmi. Brian was passionate about Piopio and loved colourful plants. There are substantial funds remaining for planting; ideas welcome.

Until next time.
