WDC - Busy time for Council

Birdtalk Magazine June & July 2024
THE LAST couple of months have been an exceptionally busy time for the council, developing the Consultation Document for the Long Term Plan. We have had over 100 submissions so far.

Council staff and elected representatives had drop-in centres in Mokau, Te Kuiti, Benneydale and Piopio. Overall these were not well attended by the public, but those who attended hopefully left fully informed.

Another process we have been going through is meeting with local ratepayers to discuss the future of local halls. I have been to meetings at Aria, Waitangaru, Mapiu, and Mokauiti so far, and the attendance has been great. People obviously want to retain their halls, and I am quite sure we will come to a suitable arrangement for all concerned.

Council also has decisions to make regarding Marokopa Camping Ground and funding for Waikato Tourism.

Good to see some of the road repairs either underway or about to get underway for the damage done from last years storms.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any concerns or queries you might have.
