Piopio Lions Club Update

Our club has recently lost a very valued member with the passing of Dan Weinberg. He was to have been inducted as president in July and, with Wendy’s support, he would have made a great president. We will miss him and our thoughts are with the family at this time.

Ross Smith has agreed to step up and take on the role of president.

We thank Paul Jones and Marie for the two years that he did as President during Covid.

Our Change of Officers was held Sunday, July 2 and the club spent a day visiting the Cambridge Velodrome. This was another great outing organised by John and Mary Spellman. The Velodrome is well worth a visit.

The club welcomes Gray Haine as a new member and is pleased to acknowledge the long service of Stuart Darke – with the support of Joanne – 40 years, a great achievement.

The Fieldays was a great success and we thank all Lions members and their partners for their contribution, and also our groups of helpers. Rural Women, Aria Netball, Piopio Bowling Club, Piopio Youth Sports. We had wonderful groups, lots of fun and hard workers. We would be lost without their help. We had some very busy days.

Our club is always looking for new members so if you think Lions is something you could be part of, please contact one of our members:
Paul Jones - (06)752 9765
Gavin Todd – 877 7700
Ross Smith – 877 8880
Bob Dawson – 877 8297
